Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering & Technology (SVIET) was established under the aegis of Sh.Ragnunath Rai Memorial Educational & Charitable Trust. The governing body is headed by Sh. Ashwani Garg and Sh. Ashok Garg. In the year 2004, this Educational Trust has established its campus 30 kilometers from Chandigarh, on the Chandigarh–Patiala National Highway. SVIET was established under the Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar. The institutions are approved by educational bodies like- AICTE (New Delhi), Government of Punjab and has affiliation to the concerned Universities like- MRSPTU (Bathinda), Punjabi University (Patiala), and PSBTE & IT (Chandigarh). The Institute has since then been built on its base of highly accomplished faculty, world-class infrastructure and motivated student body to emerge as one of the premier institutes for Engineering & Management education and research, promoting managerial excellence in the country. SVGOI strives to achieve excellence through partnerships with industry, and leading academic institutions, the nation over. SVGOI mission is to ‘build leaders through holistic, transformative and innovative education’. The sprawling campus of the SVGOI is equidistant from Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Ambala and Patiala. The institute offers multi-disciplinary programs, all of which are designed to be industry- relevant. As a result of this student-centric approach, SVGOI is renowned as one of the best private college in the North India region. For business management programs to programs in education and degree courses; and from computer science, electronics and mechanical engineering programs, to civil and pharmacy. —SVGOI, Punjab is a veritable cornucopia of educational services. SVGOI has always been a hub of innovative activities and is always on the lookout for opportunities to collaborate with the industry as well as other academic institutions the world over. Curriculum is delivered in spacious, amphitheatre-style classrooms—fitted with modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment—and in well-equipped, modern laboratories. Additionally, students are encouraged—and provided relevant facilities—to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities through various clubs and societies on the campus. It is because of the cumulative effect of an elaborate in-campus academic infrastructure; strong national and international collaborations; and a robust on- campus recruitment record—including regular recruitment by reputed MNC’s companies—that the University finds favor with national as well as international students. A healthy number of national students from diverse regions like Egypt, Nepal, Assam, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Delhi-NCR, Himachal Area (Upper & Lower), Uttrakhand, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, U.P and the localities are regularly studying at the campus, adding to the cultural diversity found on campus. The Institution is providing several opportunities for local students, too, to visit other institutions during inter-college competitions, exchange programs and thereby helping them receive invaluable international exposure. The SVGOI has at the centre of its philosophical core the commitment to excellence in education. It is the strong academic heritage of the University, and such firmness on matters of principles that has seen it grow from strength to strength in such a short span of time.
